External mezzanine lifts with clad lift shafts
Started in 2005, 1st Access Self Store is a privately owned storage company offering personal, business and office storage at its sites in Birmingham, Salisbury and Cardiff.
1st Access Self Store required lifts to service second-level storage units, to accommodate expansion at two separate facilities in Birmingham. The aim was to replace forklift trucks, which had previously been used to move products to these mezzanine levels. Due to internal space constraints, both lifts had to be situated externally.
Transdek fitted two external mezzanine goods lifts, which provide safe and efficient access to both mezzanine areas for customers and staff at 1st Access Self Store in Birmingham. Each lift incorporates a fully-clad lift shaft that ensures a sealed, watertight environment for the movement of customer goods. Transdek also leveled the yard slab prior to installation and fitted crash-prevention barriers in front of the lifts.
“Transdek’s engineering and project management expertise went beyond our expectations. Their team managed the whole project seamlessly and fulfilled all of our requirements. Our customers and staff can now access the mezzanine levels at our Birmingham self stores whenever they want, and we’ve been able to do away with fork lifts.”
